Our Groups

This is a very popular monthly event open to all members, usually the first Monday of the month. Members can sign up to play golf or petanca and lunch, or simply attend the lunch.

After the rounds of golf and petanca, lunch is held at the Costa Brava Golf Course in Santa Cristina which is usually served around 14:00. During lunch winners of the golf and petanca competitions are awarded prizes.

The group meets twice monthly on different Pitch ’n putt courses around the Costa Brava. It is not a competitive group, members being of all different skill levels.

There is often a lunch organised after the round at the pitch’nputt course.

The book group was set up with a view to bring together people who both enjoy reading, and discussing the contents of a chosen book (mostly fiction).

We take it in turns to suggest the book to read, and in theory we meet once a month at a local venue. This can be a “movable feast”, since many of our members are often absent for a variety of reasons, so naturally the numbers can vary. Everyone is welcome, the books are read in English, Spanish, French and Dutch. We prefer to keep the numbers each time to 8-10 people to enable everyone to express their thoughts and opinions. Discussions are in English and center around the book of the month.

The cooking group meets about every 6 weeks, typically in a member’s home. There are also occasional cooking workshop experiences in the community.

Cooking group members have a wealth of cooking knowledge and experience based on lives lived in various countries around the world. Each meeting centres around a theme – at least one dish is prepared in front of the members with tips from the chef, and two or three other members typically bring dishes to round out the feast.

Members then sit down and enjoy!

These are typically quarterly, perhaps to a local museum, art gallery, winery, historical site or might involve a trip to Barcelona to a current exhibit.

These are day trips, and usually lunch is included.

A Car Rally Is held every May. This is a popular event of the members. People usually drive in teams and it takes the form of a treasure hunt winding through the villages and historic sites in the Costa Brava. The day culminates with a luncheon in a restaurant with a prize for the winners.

Quiz Night Is held in the autumn, and is a much looked forward to event. It is a team style trivia quiz over tapas and drinks in a local restaurant. Lots of laughter!
